Several times I have been told during readings and spiritual energy work that I am surrounded by animal guides. Nothing could make me happier or fill my heart with more love and joy. I have enjoyed the company of animal spirit doves, bears, rabbits, elk, gazelle, geese, goats, squirrels, a turkey, porcupine, skunk and a camel. I often look up the different meanings of the animal spirit guides online and thoroughly enjoy looking for the story behind the symbolism.

Our house pets in bodies like to communicate with me spirit to spirit. Currently our home is shared with three dogs. Maddie our 10 month old cavaapoo enjoys showing up in spirit during classes I am taking and often sits very close by when I am giving a reading or healing. She had a past life as a baby bunny in a hutch outside our front door four years ago. The hutch and the bunny family were destroyed by a skunk. During Maddie’s past life reading, I saw the skunk from the baby bunny’s vantage, and felt her panic during the life and death struggle. Apparently the bunny wanted to be part of our family and came back to us via Maddie.

Tucker, our 14 year old cockapoo is constantly seeking me out for reassurance and love. Although he has dealt with back pain and cancer, he is very clear to point out that he has no intention of going anywhere any time soon. As the patriarch of our dog family he holds court and lets me know if he thinks I have done something wrong, like when I feed the other two dogs first. He gets totally annoyed when Maddie plays ball too close to him, although he has shared with me that sometimes he actually thinks she is pretty silly.

Jack, our 12 year old cockapoo suffers from anxiety and middle child syndrome. He complained voraciously when we brought Maddie into our family. He would say to me, “You just don’t know how annoying she is!” Sometimes Jack will show up with Maddie at my class. When he does, he smiles like it is the funniest thing that he can join me across town. He enjoys our inside joke and is happy and upbeat when I get back home.

When Lola, our diamond dove, lost her partner Sparky we thought that she was going to starve herself to death. Spirit to spirit I asked her why she was hanging on. She showed me that she needed to stay with me so I could move further with animal communication and spiritual energy work, and that I needed to believe in myself. She was afraid that if she was not here to keep me moving forward, that I might just give it up all together. I believe that she was correct.

Kumu is a deep blue betta fish named after my dear friend Sylvia. Her license plate read KUMU which means teacher in Hawaiian. Kumu encourages me to do animal readings and energetically flips like crazy whenever I ask him for advice about my future as an animal communicator. What he lacks in vocabulary he makes up for with exuberance. He is one of my strongest animal supporters. Funny, we have had many bettas come through our doors, mostly as short-timers, but Kumu has such a strong soul and sense of self. I hope he is around for a long, long time to come.

Last summer I enjoyed taking the girls to the farm where goats are milked by volunteers on a daily basis. We all enjoyed the time with the goats and I was particularly amused when Clover, one of the goats, would join me in spirit during my clairvoyant classes. What a treat to have an unexpected visitor!

I love being able to read the energy of animals. What a delicious gift that I give to myself.
